During the last few weeks, the students of Workshop 2 have been working on the Volleyball Unit. Volleyball was devised by an American physical education teacher, William George Morgan in 1895. He mixed concepts from handball and tennis to create a new indoor court sport.
Volleyball is a very complete sport, where solidarity and teamwork are fundamental premises to be able to understand the game. Starting with the basic skills and understanding of the game, the pupils have been progressing and improving until they are able to successfully complete a 5 on 5 volleyball game. Co-operative and oppositional sports are very important for the correct motor and mental development of children between the ages of 6 and 12. Volleyball is a wonderful sport to work on self-improvement, learning and the consolidation of new techniques.
