The activity involved students building a small model of a house with figures and magnets. Each student was given a set of figures and furniture, and they had to arrange the rooms of the house as they wished. The main objective was for the students to describe the house and the objects inside it, such as the furniture, rooms, and items in the house, all in English.
Students also had to create dialogues where they interacted with each other’s figures characters. For example, they could describe where their characters were in the house, what they were doing, and what furniture or objects were in the room.
The students loved the hands-on activity and quickly got into the spirit of using English to describe their creations. They took turns speaking to each other, describing their rooms and discussing the furniture and objects in their houses. One student said, «I think my character is in the living room, sitting on the couch, watching TV.» Another student added, «My character is in the kitchen, cooking dinner with the fridge open!»
Overall, the figures house activity was a huge success. The students enjoyed the opportunity to be creative and to practice their English in a relaxed, fun setting. It was amazing to see how engaged they were and how much they improved in speaking English during the activity. We’re excited to continue using fun, interactive projects like this to build language skills in future lessons!
