My Community

These weeks, we had so much fun!
Children have learned about neighborhoods and communities and understand that their classroom is a community too. We have been talking about community helpers, how people in the community help each other, about community workers, and what they do for the community. We have listened to songs about it. They thought of ways people could help each other and the environment.
Role play: community workers; role-play in the neighborhood; neighbors in need…
Building a community: children worked together to build a community out of scrap materials and flowers. They also made their own community helper costume.
We have gardeners, vets, doctors, bakers, chefs, fishermen, and pilots in our classroom.
