Once the students have achieved reading and writing in their native language, we introduce reading and writing in English.
The alphabet is a great material to achieve this.
The students have a basket with objects in it. These objects are monosyllabic and they are without spelling difficulty.
They take out the objects and they write the name of the object next to it, using the letters of the alphabet.
Once they have written all the names of the objects, they then can make a little “booklet”.
In the booklet they write by hand the name of the objects and afterwards, they draw a picture of them.
Finally, they staple their booklet together, and they can take it home.
